Abstract :
A generation method of wash wave by using multi-segmented wave generators in model basin is proposed. In this method, wave generators are controlled by the wave generation data consisting of wave elevation and surface lateral velocity of wash wave on the free surface. The wave generation data are prepared by the results of Navier-Stokes computation for wash wave. Wash waves are simulated for full and fine ships with various speeds was carried out to investigate the influence of ship types and ship speeds on wash wave. The computed results give a good account of the characteristics of wave fields generated by fine and full ships with the various ship speeds. Wash wave generation by multi-segmented wave generators were carried out at the National Maritime Research Institute in Japan. The results of wash wave generation demonstrate that wave height and wave length are in good agreement with computed one. The results indicate the effectiveness of this wash wave generation method.
