Abstract
Coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (COFDM) is the transmission technique used for DAB in Europe and is a general concept able to adapt to a very wide range of services and reception conditions. The author explains the background of COFDM as well as the main reasons why it is superior to any other known technique in the field of terrestrial broadcasting
