  • Abstract
The major problem when adopting a very detailed approach to radar modelling is the long run times due to the large amount of computation required. To combat this RADSIM is a radar and interference simulation tool which models at three levels of detail, from intra-pulse to tactical is used. The philosophy of the approach is to examine radar and ECM effects at the detailed level and calibrate the most interesting of these for further investigation at the higher and tactical levels. The authors are concerned with the detailed level of RADSIM. The basis of the model is the accurate representation of all signals encountered by the radar. RADSIM achieves this by sampling all signals at a rate in excess of the Nyquist rate for the radar bandwidth. This is matched with careful modelling and selection of the scenario to provide good run times and accurate results. Following a description of the capabilities of the detailed level of RADSIM the authors give a few examples of typical applications
