Abstract
Summary form only given. A telematics infrastructure is analysed based on the experiences made in two projects of the CEC DELTA programme: the Advanced Communications Technology project and the Multimedia Teleschool project. The European Training Network is discussed in terms of three different learning scenarios. Interactive distributed learning, enables conference-like communication between tutors and learners. Interactive remote tutoring, is based on a direct line one-to-one connection between tutor and learner. Implementing a direct connection via ISDN provides interactive control of applications running on a learner station. Interactive teleteaching, the tutor offers courses which are broadcast to remote learner groups at different learning centres. A virtual classroom is implemented by satellite broadcast from a tutor to learner groups involving audio and video feedback. The benefits of integrating ISDN-based communication links into the three learning scenarios are discussed with particular emphasis on applications for interactive teleteaching
