  • Abstract
    Academic staff at higher education institutions are crucial for quality education and research, the core competiveness of a top research-oriented university. Efforts have been made at many universities to work on a system to effectively and accurately assess the performance of academic staff to promote the overall teaching and research activities. The paper presents an appraisal information system developed for School of Economics and Management of Beihang University, which has taken into consideration the contextual factors of research-oriented universities. The appraisal information system, based on service-oriented architecture, is characterized by a multi-layer system in digital campus. The implementation of the system has significantly promoted the overall teaching and research quality at the school.
