Abstract
The acoustic radiation force on a steel sphere suspended freely in a plane progressive sound field is calculated by the three-dimensional (3-D) finite difference time domain (FDTD) method combined with the momentum-flux tensor. The radiation forces versus kr curve are in excellent agreement with those obtained by the scattering method.
