Abstract :
This paper presents a new analytical model of ATM node to which a mixture of different multi-rate traffic streams, including multicast traffic, is offered. The model allows one to calculate the blocking probability for calls of all traffic classes. An example of calculations of a network node with three outgoing directions is given. The results of the analytical calculation are compared with the results of simulation, and therefore, the validity of the assumption used is proved. The formulae derived in this paper can be used in the analysis of B-ISDN systems
