Abstract :
Removal of sulphur dioxide(SO2) from the flue gases emitted from various industries in a technological-economical-environmental manner and its accurate prediction is of great importance. In present investigation, a mathematics model of wet ammonia-based flue gas desulphurization(FGD) was developed by studying the process of mass transfer and chemical reaction. This model was used to simulate the process of SO2 absorption in the packed column, and it was found that calculated results agreed fairly well with experimental data for a wide range of operating conditions of pH of solution, liquid-to-gas ratio, inlet SO2 concentration and gas flow rate. This model can provide predictions of the absorption performances of wet ammonia-based flue gas desulphurization and appears to be really helpful to design scrubbers for SO2 abatement with ammonia.
