Abstract :
HEVs and EVs are driven by interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) generally; improvement in driving efficiency of IPMSM is desired for longer one charge driving range. In this paper, a 1.5kW IPMSM is tested before drive examination of IPMSM for actual vehicles. In drive examination in high speed range, torque and loss were measured and compared using the following control schemes: (1) changing dq-axis current reference in PWM, (2) third harmonic injection PWM, (3) voltage phase control. Moreover, in a range not to be able to output torque because of effect of back electromotive force, boost DC-DC converter was used. As a result of experiments, in the range where the influence of back electromotive force begins to appear, the efficiency in PWM was highest. However, in the range with great influence of back electromotive force, the efficiency in voltage phase control was highest.
