Abstract
In this paper we propose a novel fiber Bragg grating Fabry-Perot (FBG FP) fiber sensor for the detection of acoustic emission generated by the formation of structural defects in carbon composite structures.By setting the wavelengths of the two lasers in quadrature the measurement sensitivity can be maintained in spite of environmental perturbation, making this approach practical for real time applications.
