Abstract
In addition to the self-interference due to multipath, the presence of multiple access interference further degrades the performance of CDMA systems. In the analysis of multipath combining receivers, Turin (1980) used Gaussian approximations to account for the effect of multiple access interference. The aim of the paper is to show on a simulation basis, the BER performance of a DS CDMA system operating in multipath fading mobile radio environment with up to two interfering signals. A 2-ray model of equal amplitude and 1.0 mu s excess delay, and a 6-ray model with multipath profiles for typical urban, rural area and hilly terrain as specified for the GSM system have been employed.<>
