Abstract :
This paper presents a new printed cylindrical slot antenna for GPS avionics applications. This new antenna consists of four cylindrical slots which are fed by quarter-wavelength microstrip baluns. The proposed antenna provides compact size, low cost, ease of mass production, near-hemispherical radiation coverage and circular polarization properties. Experimental results show that the printed cylindrical slot antenna has a 3 dB beamwidth of 120/spl deg/ and a front-back ratio of more than 15 dB.
