Abstract :
Modern materials such as cold pour resins, cold shrink systems, moulded rubber components and new tapes with specialised electrical properties have been introduced. In conjunction with new mechanical connecting systems, they have gradually replaced the traditional techniques, with resulting reduction in installation times. The design philosophies behind modern 3M accessories are explained. The important electrical and mechanical properties of the modern materials are discussed and the reasoning behind their choice within accessories is explained
