Abstract
We report the first spectroscopy of optical lattice-confined Yb atoms. We demonstrate 20 Hz linewidths using the highly forbidden clock transition (1S0-3P0) in metrologically superior even-isotope 174Yb atoms in a one-dimensional optical lattice.
