Abstract :
There is a strong need for low-loss, reproducible fusion splicing of singlemode ZBLAN fibers because splicing is a key technology for integration of fiber-based devices. We report preliminary results on the use of a new technique-tungsten filament heating for the splicing of ZBLAN fibers
