Abstract
In conclusion, we report K2O-MgO-SiO2 (KMS) glass as a new candidate for use in fabricating ultralow-loss fiber. Its scattering properties and stability against phase separation are comparable or superior to those of sodium-silicate glasses such as NAS. We also achieved a loss reduction in NAS glass fiber of 800 dB/km at 1.55 μm by OH-OD substitution
