Abstract
Fundamental principles to develop soft magnetic materials with high permeability, frequency, and power are discussed. With these guidelines, advanced soft magnetic materials for high frequency (>;1MHz) and high power applications have been developed based on three materials platforms: soft magnetic nanocomposite (SMNC), modified NiZn ferrites (SMNZ3M), and ferroxplanar ferrites (SMMDFZ). SMNZ3M can be optimized for applications in the frequency range of 1-30 MHz, and SMNC and SMMDFZ can be used above 10-500 MHz. Our results show SMNZ3M has high frequency properties that are suitable for power electronics applications.
