Abstract
The new International Terminal will be a major landmark in London and it is important that a secure electrical power supply is incorporated. For this reason the power supply system of the Waterloo International was designed with two independent 11 kV high voltage supplies. The primary (nonessential) supply is derived from London Electricity plc (LE plc) and the traction (essential) supply derived from British Rail (BR) Electrification. The total maximum demand of Waterloo International is approximately 3.1 MVA on the LE plc primary HV supply network and 2.2 MVA on the BR traction HV supply network under essential conditions. The author describes how the LE plc supply is provided through three feeders to provide a 7 MVA total capacity supply. One feeder is connected direct to the zone substation and the other two are connected to the distribution network. The 7 MVA load can be maintained with the loss of any one feeder
