Abstract
Due to an increasing demand for reliability in engineering systems, many advanced methods have been developed for fault detection and isolation (FDI). Analytical redundancy approaches have been widely applied to systems where signal relationships can be expressed mathematically with either known or unknown parameter values. In this paper, a general form of redundancy relation for the generalized system is established. It is shown how this form can be used to develop a detection signal which is insensitive to class of modelling error. The method is demonstrated by designing a detection signal which is insensitive to operating point changes in a simulated three-shaft gas turbine
