Abstract
One of the most important aims in the electronic industry is the reduction of the size of the magnetic components, since it allows the improvement on the power density and the decrease in the cost of the power electronics equipment. In this paper, the chopped sinusoid peak current control scheme in critical conduction mode (CRM) PFC converter is proposed to reduce the inductance and the peak inductor current simultaneously. Hence, the size of the inductor can be significantly reduced while the harmonic content can still meet the requirement of Class D. The experimental results of CRM boost converter with chopped sinusoid peak current control are shown to verify the theoretical analysis. Furthermore, the proposed method can be extended to other topology of CRM PFC converter.
