Abstract
This paper examines the existing current and torque control techniques for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) which are operated in the brushless DC (BLDC) drive mode. It reviews the literature in this context and aims to show how current control techniques have evolved with the availability of fast processing devices. It also aims to provide an unified perspective of various current controllers as approximations of the general exact linearized design
