  • Abstract
Considering the increase in complexity of modern aircraft, a fresh look is needed at safety standards and guidelines, with a focus on those aspects that address the assessment objective, the methodology and applicable analytical tools. There should not be any scope for misinterpretation of safety requirements due to ambiguity in respect to its applicability or method of application. This paper raises a couple of issues related to the standard and guidelines on safety assessment process for civil and military aircraft, which need to be addressed with more clarity
