Abstract
The submersible motor is traditionally used for driving a directly coupled centrifugal pump when submerged in the pumped liquid. Although the main field of application is deep well water pumping, the availability of electric motors which are capable of reliably operating underwater has led to increasing numbers of other applications. The latest of these which is the subject of this paper, is for a motor in a potentially explosive atmosphere of Zone 1 Group II Temperature T3
