Abstract :
This paper describes a method of predicting the commutation performance of a DC machine from generalised machine theory using a combination of electric circuit elements obtained from the finite element analysis of a particular machine and certain fundamental design parameters. The method´s validity is tested on two actual machines and good correlation is obtained
