Abstract :
Many authors in the past 50 years have presented various ways of producing two speeds from a single winding. The methods used may easily be classified as pole amplitude modulation (PAM) or phase modulation (PM). About 30 years ago a three speed PAM winding was suggested, whilst the most recent 3-speed PM winding was suggested, only 15 years ago. A new PM three speed winding which is superior to those mentioned above is presented in this paper. Experimental results to verify the new winding are included
