Abstract :
The task of improving the semantic interoperability of distributed data sources is one of the focuses in semantic grid research. For integrating and sharing scientific data in materials science, this paper proposes a semantic model for materials scientific data and an ontology-based data integration method. The semantic model covers the key factors in materials science and is considered as the global conceptual model. In the method, Mapping ontology and data source description ontology are designed to represent the two types of mappings formally. Furthermore, the architecture and query process are also presented. The experimental prototype is implemented to show the usefulness of the method in heterogeneous data environment for materials science.
