  • Abstract
With the increasing consumption of electrical and electronics equipment (EEE), waste of EEE (WEEE) has become a major source of the waste stream with huge environmental impact. Many countries have realized the importance to properly manage the WEEE and some have launched related regulations, such as HARL in Japan and, in particular, WEEE and RoHS directives in Europe. To reduce the economic impact of the environmental regulations on manufacturers and to sustain the competitiveness of the manufacturers, life cycle design of EEE has to be implemented. In this paper, a network model is established to analyze the lifecycle process of EEE. Based on this model and taking into consideration of the cost and environmental impact, evaluation and assessment method is employed to probe into the life cycle design of EEE, and compliance with the directives is discussed
