  • Abstract
The authors describe the harmonic currents produced in a power supply system by variable speed drives with uncontrolled rectifier inputs, mainly six-pulse. The analysis was undertaken by computer simulation using a commercially available simulator. The harmonic currents are defined and controlled principally by the nonlinearity of the rectifiers together with the inductances within the drive and the power supply system. The effect of inductance, and other factors, on the harmonic currents is discussed
