  • Abstract
Despite recent advances in power switching technologies phase controlled rectification remains a most useful method of controlling variable speed motors. Unfortunately, such power converters are a powerful source of harmonic currents with a characteristic pattern. The author argues that with increasing installed capacities and growing concern for power supply quality it is essential to manage these harmonics to avoid unwanted interference with other equipment on the supply network
