Abstract
This paper presents the challenges of developing an integrated circuit process suitable for high performance analog and digital circuits together with circuits operating at up to 50 V. An economic submicron CMOS technology is described which meets these challenges. Attractive application areas for this process include intelligent motor control, capacitative transducers (such as MEMS based devices), and devices operating in industrial environments where the supply voltage busses are in the 12 V to 50 V range. Specific circuit designs for these applications are discussed.
