Abstract
This paper presents a new parameter identification method designed for single-phase induction machines (SPIM), and applicable in general to symmetric and non-symmetric two-phase machines. The approach is based on a state-space model, as opposed to the more commonly used equivalent-circuit model. Two frequency response functions are identified as a function of these state-space parameters. One frequency response corresponds to a winding impedance and the other corresponds to the transmittance from one winding to another. By fitting measured frequency responses, the parameters can be determined reliably in practice. The effectiveness of the method is confirmed through experiments.
