Abstract
The authors´ experience of delivering systems for a number of Regional Electricity Companies, has demonstrated that the technology exists to capture and deliver data for a geographical information system for a company wide implementation. Clearly, there are several other major issues to be considered as a part of full scale implementation of a GIS. Whilst it is important to recognise the importance of strong project management and high level commitment, the evidence is encouraging that, once a business case has been proven, one of the key requirements of the progression to a fully vectorised network, the multi user data capture task, has a sound technical solution
