Abstract :
The electricity supply industry has been the subject of GIS applications for several years and considering the investment in technology, in information systems and the depth of IT experience it would be expected that GIS would play a major role in operations. In the UK industry, however, GIS has had a fitful and patchy introduction and in many respects the industry lags behind its US and European counterparts. This overview examines the reasons and attempts to identify a response to this situation
