Abstract :
Three Massachusetts semiconductor companies Alpha Industries (Woburn), M/A Com (Lowell), and Clare Corporations (Beverly) partnered with Massachusetts Bay and Middlesex Community Colleges to train 210 production operators and entry-level technicians on-site at each company. This workforce initiative provides the necessary support to train existing employees in basic electronics, math, and specific semiconductor technology. This two year training program has been instrumental in supporting companies´ efforts in developing, recruiting and retaining a workforce essential to the future of the semiconductor industry. The mission of the Workforce Training Fund is to provide Massachusetts employers with the resources to train their current and newly hired employees. This investment in the Massachusetts workforce will continue to strengthen the economic viability of the Commonwealth´s businesses
