Abstract
Here, we report a significant supercontinuum generation in a solid-core PBGF (in which light is guided by a photonic bandgap effect), with low-index contrast resonators, in the nanosecond pumping regime. We have experimentally observed for the first time significant nonlinear effects in a solid-core PBGF with pump powers in the kW level. By pumping in an anomalous dispersion region of the fiber in the quasi-cw regime, a supercontinuum spanning more than 500 nm was generated.
