Abstract
A novel hybrid time-frequency RFID system is proposed. The idea is to use an interrogating signal consisting of a sequence of pulses modulated by different frequencies. The resonators of the tags select out some of the pulses of the sequence corresponding to their resonant frequency, which produces the RFID code in the form of a modified sequence of time-domain pulses. The proposed system overcomes the complexity and loss issues of frequency-based and time-based RFID systems, respectively.
