Abstract :
Improvements in both lateral and angular resolution can be effected by adopting two tier optics. In systems employing two tier optics for primary pseudoscopic images improved lateral resolution at and around the screen plane is achieved, however, increasingly remote planes contain increasing defocus due to diffraction effects and reduced angular resolution. These deficiencies can be overcome by adopting an integral imaging system which produces a two tier orthoscopic secondary image at the recording/viewing stage as proposed by the authors. By adopting this arrangement the image retains lateral and angular resolution with sharp focus throughout the scene and full colour holoscopic images with good definition are achieved. As this image is an intensity distribution on a flat plane, it is suitable for electronic capture
