Abstract
The authors briefly present the design for a programmable optoelectronic cellular processing system and investigate the effect which hologram quantisation noise has on the performance of this system. They then introduce a technique by which peak quantisation noise intensities may be reduced. This is achieved by designing the hologram as a `quasiperiodic´ function. Several hologram designs with reduced quantisation noise together with fabrication results are presented
