Abstract :
A novel kind of focusing fan-out element is investigated. It is a single planar optical element based on an area-sharing arrangement of different types of phase-matched Fresnel elements. A theoretical approach for modelling the behavior of the fan-out PMFEs is outlined. Design considerations and first experimental results are presented for reflective and transmissive 1- and 2-dimensional focusing fan-out elements
