Abstract
The automatic use of Weibull statistics in testing power cables for electrical breakdown behaviour can lead to loss of information and unnecessary expense in experimental work. Here, the authors present a comparison of Weibull statistical methods with other methods of power cable testing data analysis, and show that by moving away from the Weibull assumption in such tests, the results can be more easily analysed
