  • Abstract
    In order to combine the main advantages of the pre-moulded slip-on joint and the heat shrinkable joint, a new joint, which is pre-fabricated and factory tested and that can be fitted at ambient temperature without tools over a large cable diameter range, has been developed. The new joint can also be used to connect paper insulated mass impregnated cables which are still extensively used in some countries (Italy, UK, Spain). As a consequence of the above designs a transition joint able to connect polymeric cables to paper insulated cables has been developed. The main features of this new generation of elastically recoverable joints for the voltage range from 12 kV up to 36 kV is described
