Abstract :
This paper proposes a methodology for modeling the equivalent network of an inductor used in domestic cooking applications. Nowadays, the most widespread model corresponds to an RL-series equivalent; however, it excludes the frequency dependence that occurs in such systems. This paper proposes a network which considers the impedance variation with the frequency. The equivalent impedance is obtained from numerical simulations of electromagnetic model based on the finite element method. The electrical equivalent consists of several passive components, inductors and resistors, whose values are adjusted using the data obtained in the previous simulation to reproduce the frequency-domain response of the system at a given frequency range. The network obtained is suitable for use by computer simulation tools, such as SPICE or SIMULINK, replacing the induction system. This procedure has been verified experimentally by comparing the time-domain simulation results and experimental measurements performed on an induction system connected to a commercial power electronics board.
