Abstract :
The Teletact glove system, the high-speed pan-and-tilt system, and the Vision graphics engine are described. The VERDEX test bed is being used in the short term to carry out experimental studies of human performance during and after immersion in a virtual world. Studies planned include a comparactive investigation of speech recognition and gesture control for motion through a virtual world and interaction with virtual objects, and a psycho-physiological study of medium- and long-term immersion
