Abstract :
The design of an inter-object communications facility is discussed that is necessary to execute ABCL/c+ programs on multi-processor systems with no shared memory such as HyperCube machines. The authors have implemented an object scheduler for the synchronization of objects which becomes necessary when message-passing occurs, and protocol software that allows the message-passing across the interprocessor links. Also, an efficient selective I/O primitive has been designed. To simulate a HyperCube machine, Macintosh computers connected with the Appletalk local network are used as the implementation environment
