Abstract
The availability of reliable power systems is essential for the proper functioning of any economy. Electrification still remains a privilege of the industrialised countries. The developing countries are suffering from the lack of reliable power systems with about 50% of their population having no access to electricity at all. This paper reviews the state of the art of the available solar technologies for electricity generation and analyses the economic aspects of these technologies
