Abstract :
A novel 3-DOF parallel machines tool (PMT) with 3-HSS structure is proposed in this paper. This PMT is composed of three ballscrews with horizontal configuration, three blocks, three linkage chains with parallelogram structure and mobile platform. This PMT can be used in three-dimensional carving, milling and other processing fields. It´s easy to build the move modeling and get the direct and inverse kinematics for this PMT. This PMT also has other advantages, such as spacious workspace in horizon direction, simple structure, easy controlling, easy to restructure and so on. In this paper, the kinematic analysis, dimension systemization and available workspace analysis of the PMT are done, and the integrated and modularized NC architecture is also developed correspondingly. Based on these, the prototype of PMT proposed in this paper has been manufactured. The correct control method and model have been achieved through the on-line manufacturing experiments, which verify the reasonableness of the structure and the correctness of the NC platform
