Abstract
This paper describes the design and application of a zero voltage switching quasi-resonant converter for a DC servo motor drive system. Comparisons are made between the zero voltage switching quasi-resonant power converter fed DC motor drive and a pulse width modulated converter fed DC drive in terms of the frequency spectrum of their AC ripples in the output current and input line current. Experimental results show that the application of the zero voltage switching quasi-resonant converter to DC drives result in lower switching losses and reduced harmonic contents
