Abstract :
In the recent industrial practice, product objects are represented in very complex object model that has capabilities to accommodate results of engineering activities during the entire lifecycle of a product. This new engineering technology motivated a new area of research in enhanced knowledge representation capabilities for control of object definition in product model. In order to achieve industrially applicable product model, locally defined experience and expertise are necessary to include. The authors of this paper joined to these efforts and proposed an extension to the currently prevailing product modeling methods and model entity sets. In this paper, general process of integrated product definition in model based engineering systems is introduced then corporate knowledge driven product definition is compared in the currently prevailing and the proposed product modeling. Following this, new method for input of change request and knowledge support, new entities in the proposed product model, and the proposed product object definition process are explained and discussed. Finally, extending of the currently applied product modeling by the proposed method is outlined.
