Abstract :
A nonlinear speech model motivated by some previously published observations on the nonlinear effects of frequency doubling and halving is presented, and it is demonstrated how this nonlinear model offers an improvement in capital pitch extraction for noisy sustained vowel sound waveforms. This improvement is a result of the nonlinear model producing additional harmonics in the spectrum which can then be extracted in the nonlinear multiplicative cepstral domain
