Abstract
In this paper, a plug and play network sensor based on IEEE1451.2 is discussed for CAN Bus. This work proposes a custom hardware for STIM (smart transducer interface module) with FPGA using hardware description language. It realizes the system on chip (SOC) and high integration in large system. This hardware can also achieve transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS) modification on line conveniently. Design of NCAP (network capable application processor) is also given. After that, an implementation of network sensor for an ultraviolet fire detector is discussed. In the application, we design STIM hardware executing in parallel, which can keep system speed unaffected when more transducers are connected with STIM. The test result of the detector is given
